How Web 2.0 Properties Help You Market a Website

NH Marketing and web designWeb 2.0 is probably one of the most frequently spoken words on the Internet today. It seems as though everybody is talking about Web 2.0 platforms and Web 2.0 properties. Many Internet Marketers even say that these properties are vital in any web marketing strategy or web site promotion effort.

That’s why throughout this article we will discuss just how Web 2.0 properties can help you market a website, and therefore earn you money. This is either direct money created by the Web 2.0 properties themselves or money made from your website by referral traffic from these properties. Of course Web 2.0 properties help your Search Engine Optimization (SEO)  efforts, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Search Engine Optimization is the practice of optimizing your web pages in a manner that helps you to be found high on the first pages of Search Engines such as Google. Links back to your web pages from other authoritative sources is very important for your rankings. Web 2.0 properties provide Backlinks from trusted sources, and that’s worth credibility for your website. Part of their credibility passes on to your site via those “do-follow” links.

Web 2.0 properties also help you by generating passive residual income. The Web 2.0 platforms work on a revenue sharing methodology which means that they will share the revenue your articles or pages generate with you. In other words, you will be earning a passive amount for all of your Web 2.0 properties. It’s not very much per property, but it does add up pretty quickly once you have created a bunch of them. The money made from these Web 2.0 properties can be used to further market your website, so Web 2.0 properties help you again.

Last but not least, Web 2.0 properties help you by generating referral traffic. Sometimes your competition is so tough that you just can’t get found on page one of Google. Web sites that don’t get the exposure of being on page one can, however,  get their traffic in another way since we all know that not being on page one means Search Engine oblivion. So, you can get a lot of traffic by establishing Web 2.0 properties and getting your traffic through them. When people read your article on a Web 2.0 property and if they find it interesting and informative, they will typically want to learn more. They will click on the link in your profile and they will be taken to your website where they may purchase your products or services. This is an easy way to get traffic when you can’t rely upon the search engines.

So, Web 2.0 properties can help you market a website by providing referral traffic, getting you additional revenues for marketing purposes and give you some Backlink power and authority to get you ranked higher in search engines. So, Web 2.0 properties are very good indeed.

Blogging For Higher Ranking

How to Build Inbound Links using Blogs

NH BloggongBuilding a network of inbound links to your website is crucial for achieving high rank on the search engine results pages.  The best way to get the kind of inbound links that will make the search engines notice your site is to get both anchor text links and natural links from sites that are related to your own.  This means that these sites should be in the same niche as your site or very closely related to your niche.  But how you can get the kind of high payoff links that you need if everyone you know uses blogs instead of websites? That’s easy. Blogs can be a great asset when you’re building an inbound link network for one simple reason – blogs are built in a manner that allows you to place your links on them so you can easily build a network of links.

Blogs are very effective marketing tools for marketing your website, or more specifically, a web page.  Many businesses that are related to your niche has a blog. Most people publicize their blogs by building relationships with other blogs by contributing to these blogs, and you can use this to your advantage.  Find a blog or two that is related to your business and then join that blog’s link community. You can use that blogging community and the sites that are linked on that blog to help you get your site noticed by the search engines.  If every blog that is in that blogger’s network adds an anchor text link to your web page, you may see that your web page rank will skyrocket in no time because you are getting anchor text links from sites that are topically related to your site.  However, it is important to contribute high quality content or very insightful and well thought comments in order to encourage other bloggers to link to you.

And most of the time bloggers are happy to exchange links with other web pages because bloggers know that linking to other sites and getting linked in return can drive a lot of traffic to their blog. The downside is that many bloggers will expect reciprocal links, so you might want to set up a special section on your website where you can place links to the different blogs and different blogging communities that support you by linking to your site. However, reciprocal links are believed by many SEO experts that such links are not valued very high by search engines.

You can also set up your own blogs or other web 2.0 properties that are filled with content related to your niche and various web pages and add inbound anchor texts yourself. Sites like WordPress,Blogspot and Live Journal offer free blogs, so you can start as many blogs as you want and have them all linking to your business website. Just remember that your blogs need to be active in order to get noticed so make sure that you update those blogs regularly and network with other bloggers to keep the search engine spiders interested in your blog.

Emerging Graphic Design Trends

While trying to follow trends can be counter-productive to creating original products, any graphic designer should be aware of recurring features influencing the industry at any given time without succumbing to blind imitation. After all, clients want to work with designers that offer them creations that will be cutting edge when they’re released.

Geometric Design

This design type is a combination of minimalism, simplification and experimentation with basic shapes. At their best, geometric designs are eye-catching not just from the boldness of patterns but also from the color used and are on the rise because of the popularity of info graphics. Info graphics engage viewers by encouraging them to move their eyes around the whole image, not just scrolling down a page. The key is balancing the color scheme with generally neutral tones interspersed with strategic dashes of bright color. Repeating internal patterns must be carefully coordinated to avoid outright chaos. New 3D production technologies are working well with these designs.

Sophistication and clarity may emerge from limiting the amount of colors or leaving plenty of white space. Large, simple imagery can do the talking for paragraphs of text and big, bold typography directs the viewer’s attention to the most important content. Many of the big brands have found stripping back their logos increases their versatility by being able to be applied over diverse surfaces. This trend has only been growing since last year and is increasingly evident in web design courses.

Many graphic designers are compiling their own letterforms from “modular construction kits”, often coming in hybrid forms that combine multiple elements in an interesting fashion. These decorative fonts can complement the rest of the content. Hand-written type is another trend that adds unique personality to contrast with slick digital design in these times of polished perfectionism. Vintage and retro letterpress typography also promises to be prominent over the coming year.

Many graphic designers are incorporating original hand-drawn illustrations into designs as a mode of unique expression, harder to copy than digital work. At the same time, illustrators are becoming multidisciplinary artists fusing their digital and hand drawn work with photography and animation to enhance their versatility and create original, boundary-pushing pieces. Operating in a multiple medias opens doors to being commissioned for music videos, apps and video games.

Vintage Style

More artists are integrating vintage and found objects into modern design techniques, while others are making the aesthetic choice of making new designs look old or “classic”. Combined with a trend towards art deco, this may be known as the “Instagram effect.”

Neon is out in favor of bold and vibrant colors of intense shades. Emerald green seems to be the color of choice for fashionistas. Large, transparent blocks of color with contrasting hues are popular.

These are only some of the more pervasive trends affecting the industry that students in graphics design courses should be aware of but as always, the clever designer will zig when the others zag to invent the next trend.
